WE’RE FORTY!
The Las Vegas Hilton, which opened as the International on July 2, 1969 is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special day for employees, special casino promotions, commemorative gaming chips and a 24/7 happy hour. The resort will be celebrating the anniversary with a salute to the 19 employees who are still working at the Hilton from the day the property opened as the International, with a day-long celebration in the employee dining room with music from 1969, a 1969 costume contest, and raffle prizes.

ANGELS FLYING TO HILTON
Arc Angels, the Austin, Texas-based all-star group formed in the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughn's death, will be headlining at the Las Vegas Hilton July 22 at 8 p.m. Arc Angels formed during the early '90s, following fellow Texas hero Stevie Ray Vaughan's Aug. 27, 1990 death from a helicopter crash in East Troy, Wisc. Vaughan's Double Trouble Rhythm Section -- drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon -- joined forces with Bramhall and Charlie Sexton at the Austin Rehearsal Center (ARC), which gave the group its name.

TAKING THE GLOVES OFF
Muaythai Boxing returns to the Las Vegas Hilton July 25. Fighters from the USA throwdown WuLinFeng style against China’s best Wushu fighters. The main event has Malaipet going for revenge to reclaim the WBC International title against champion, Richard Fenwick.

BOYS OF SUMMER APPROACH HALFWAY POINT
As major league baseball teams reach mid-season, some familiar faces remain as the top teams, according to Jay Kornegay, executive director of the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook. With solid pitching, the Red Sox and Yankees remain the top teams in the American League. The Dodgers with the best record in baseball are the top choice in the National League. The Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook has the Red Sox at 7-4 to win it all with the Dodgers the second choice at 9-2. Other contenders include; Yankees 5-1, Cardinals 10-1, Phillies 12-1, Tigers 13-1 and the Angels at 8-1. All the current odds are available in the SuperBook.

SHAKE RATTLE AND SALT
The item of the week at the Las Vegas Hilton Paradise Gift Ship is the Kikkerland Company’s Dachshund salt and pepper shakers and Dachshund card holders. These items are modern, abstract style versions of Dachshund dogs and make a small but strong statement on any desk, table, kitchen counter, etc. The Kikkerland salt and pepper shakers are available in the Paradise Gift Shop for $12; the card holders, $6.

PLAY AND DRAW

BROKERS MEET
The National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA), meeting at the Las Vegas Hilton July 14-16, is headquartered in Keller, Texas. The group was founded in 1988 to support the growing network of responsible pawnbrokers in the United States. As a trade association, the NPA supports nearly 2,400 members and offers guidance to pawnbrokers on how to be involved on a local, statewide and national basis. The NPA also offers members compliance training related to the federal, state and local laws that apply to the industry.
