COLLEGE HOOPS BACK ON THE COURT

This week marks the beginning of college basketball and the season will be played out until the champion is crowned at Ford Field in Detroit on Monday, April 6, 2009. The Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook offers odds to win the championship, plus it posts first half and second half wagering on every college basketball game. According to Jay Kornegay, executive director of the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook, the North Carolina Tar Heels are the favorites this year at 3-1. Other contenders include Duke at 10-1, Louisville 20-1, Kansas 30-1, and the home town UNLV Rebels are 60-1. There are 100 teams listed to win the championship. BARRY LIVE ON QVC

Barry Manilow, resident headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, will be performing live on QVC, singing songs from his new album, The Greatest Songs of the Eighties on Thursday, November 20 (8 p.m., ET/5 p.m. PT), Besides being able to purchase The Greatest Songs of the Eighties (Arista Records) five days before the street date, QVC customers will receive an exclusive re-issue of the 10-track, self-titled CD, MANILOW! Originally, released in 1985 on RCA, this is the first time MANILOW is available on compact disc. Barry’s remaining 2008 dates at the Las Vegas Hilton are November 12-15, 19-22 and December 17-20, 29-30. He is signed through 2009 at the resort.

Singer/songwriter Sidney Barnes; Len Butcher, on-line columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal; and Dane Short of Meridane Design join Ira on “Lunchtime With Ira, Live from the Las Vegas Hilton.” The show, produced live every Monday at Noon, features host Ira David Sternberg talking with the celebrities, entertainers, writers, personalities and community leaders who make Las Vegas the most exciting city in the world. “Lunchtime” can be seen on CCTV, Cox cable channel 4 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Noon and 8 p.m., heard on NEWS/TALK 720 KDWN (Saturdays at 9 p.m.), and KUNV-FM (91.5) at 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
