MANILOW GIVES

Superstar Barry Manilow, who has made the Las Vegas Hilton his home since February 2005, and who just launched his new show, "ULTIMATE MANILOW: The Hits," took time out to give more than $500,000 in musical instruments to middle and high schools in the Palm Springs, Coachella Valley and Desert Sands Unified School Districts. For the donation, Manilow gathered some friends and formed The Manilow Music Project as part of his nonprofit Manilow Health and Hope Fund.

CHANGE OF GUARD IN THE NFL

Over the last few seasons, the Patriots have dominated pro football. This year is different, according to Jay Kornegay, executive director of the Las Vegas Hilton SuperBook. "The AFC is no longer the better conference and the NFC has taken over the top spot," says Kornegay. "Despite a couple of tough weeks, the Cowboys and Giants are atop of the odds boards at the SuperBook." The current odds have both teams at 6-1 and the favorites to win it all. Other contenders include; Titans 8-1, Chargers 8-1, Colts 10-1, Redskins 15-1, and the Eagles at 15-1. All the current odds and rules are available in the SuperBook.

SCARY BUT FUN

The Las Vegas Hilton is throwing its third annual Family Halloween Party for employees on Friday, October 17. Approximately 3,000 employees and their families are expected, with more than 30,000 pieces of candy to be distributed. Sixteen activity booths are being sponsored by different Hilton departments with crafts, games, cookie decorating, face painting and a haunted house. A DJ will get ghosts and goblins on the dance floor with more games and prizes

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

The National Minority Supplier Development Council annual conference, October 20-November 1 at the Las Vegas Hilton, provides a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses. The Council, one of the country's leading business membership organizations, was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes. The NMSDC Network includes a national office in New York and 39 Regional Councils across the country. There are 3,500 corporate members throughout the network, including more than 460 of the top FORTUNE 500 companies as national members. The Regional Councils certify and match more than 15,000 minority-owned businesses with member corporations that want to purchase goods and services.
