Johnny Mathis is one of the most popular traditional male pop vocalists in history. In 1956, Mathis recorded two singles that were to become among his all-time greatest hits: “Wonderful, Wonderful” and “It’s Not For Me To Say.” These successes were followed by the monumental single, “Chances Are,” which became Mathis’ first #1 hit. Mathis has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame twice. In 1998, for "Chances Are" (Columbia Traditional Pop Single 1957) and, in 2002, for "Misty" (Columbia Traditional Pop Single 1959). He also received the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. 2006 marked Mathis’ 50th anniversary as a recording artist.
